A Night That Made Tails Wag: 12th Street Catering at the Morris Animal Refuge Fur Ball

A Night That Made Tails Wag: 12th Street Catering at the Morris Animal Refuge Fur Ball

12th Street Catering had the honor of supporting one of Philadelphia’s most heartwarming and impactful events of the year, the Morris Animal Refuge Fur Ball. Hosted at 2300 Arena, one of our exclusive venue partners, the evening brought together animal lovers, advocates, and community leaders for a celebration of compassion, generosity, and a shared love for furry friends.

From the moment guests arrived, the energy was unmistakable. This was more than a gala. It was a community united around a mission. We were proud to play a role in helping bring that experience to life.

Supporting a Lifesaving Mission

The Fur Ball is the annual fundraiser for Morris Animal Refuge, America’s first animal shelter and a cornerstone of Philadelphia’s animal welfare community. Each year, the event raises critical funds to support their lifesaving programs, including adoption services, emergency medical care, foster initiatives, and outreach efforts across the city.

This year’s event was the most successful Fur Ball to date, raising an incredible $180,626 to support Morris Animal Refuge’s mission . With 320 attendees and 19 sponsors coming together for the cause, the evening was a testament to what is possible when a community rallies around something meaningful.

The impact of that support is profound. In the past year alone, Morris Animal Refuge has helped over 1,000 animals find loving homes, maintained a remarkable 99.5% save rate, provided critical medical care to animals in need, and supported hundreds of pets through foster and community programs .

A Culinary Experience with Purpose

At 12th Street Catering, we believe food is more than just a menu. It is an experience that brings people together. For the Fur Ball, our team curated a menu designed to complement the evening’s vibrant energy while delivering the quality and creativity our clients expect.

Guests enjoyed thoughtfully prepared dishes that encouraged mingling and discovery, paired with a lively atmosphere that reflected the spirit of the event. From passed bites during cocktail hour to beautifully presented stations, every detail was designed to enhance the guest experience while keeping the focus on the mission at hand.

Because at events like this, every touchpoint matters. The food, the service, and the flow all contribute to creating a memorable night that inspires generosity and connection.

Recognition That Matters

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the recognition of Michele Leff, Principal of 12th Street Catering. Michele was honored for her continued advocacy and support of Morris Animal Refuge, a reflection of her longstanding commitment to the Philadelphia community and the causes that strengthen it.

Her recognition was not just a personal milestone. It was a reminder of the role businesses can play in driving positive impact. At 12th Street Catering, giving back is woven into who we are, and we are proud to support organizations that align with our values.

The Power of Partnership

The success of the Fur Ball extended far beyond the event itself. With media coverage generating over 50 million unique impressions, the reach of the evening and the awareness it brought to Morris Animal Refuge was truly remarkable .

Sponsors and partners were prominently featured throughout the event and across media channels, highlighting the power of collaboration in amplifying impact. From on site branding to digital recognition, the event created meaningful visibility for those who contributed to its success.

It is a powerful reminder that events like the Fur Ball do not just raise funds. They build momentum. They tell stories, engage new audiences, and inspire continued support long after the last guest leaves the room.

Why Events Like This Matter

In a city like Philadelphia, where community runs deep, events like the Fur Ball play a vital role in connecting people to causes that matter. They create space for celebration while driving real, measurable impact.

For us, being part of that experience is what it is all about.

Whether we are catering a nonprofit fundraiser, a corporate event, or a private celebration, our goal is always the same. We create moments that bring people together and leave a lasting impression.

The Fur Ball did exactly that.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on this incredible evening, we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Morris Animal Refuge, 2300 Arena, and the many sponsors, volunteers, and attendees who made the night such a success.

We are especially proud to have supported an event that not only exceeded its fundraising goals but also deepened awareness for an organization doing critical work in our community.

Here is to more nights like this, where great food, meaningful connections, and a shared purpose come together to make a difference.
