It was an evening of premiere performances and breathtaking skyline views at the BalletX Premier Party at the Mann. Philadelphia's contemporary ballet company, BalletX, recently hosted its annual Premier Party at the iconic Crescendo pavilion at the Mann Center, where dancers, advocates, and supporters gathered to honor Patricia D. Wellenbach and the Zeldin Family Foundation—two visionary champions of arts and education whose impact continues to shape Philadelphia’s cultural landscape.
From leading the Please Touch Museum through the pandemic to retiring $16 million in debt at Green Tree School and Services, Patricia D. Wellenbach has been a transformative force in Philadelphia institutions. Honored alongside the Zeldin Family Foundation, recognized for its nationwide support of youth after-school programs, both were celebrated for their enduring commitment to BalletX and the broader arts community.
Between heartfelt toasts and sensational world premiere performances from BalletX dancers, this outdoor event evoked celebration and reflection. The choreography was bold and expressive; the Philadelphia skyline stretched behind the dancers like a magical stage bathed in golden hour light.
With a setting as stunning as the Crescendo at the Mann and performances as striking as BalletX, our culinary team had to rise to the occasion. At 12th Street, we met the moment by creating an experience of culinary artistry. Guests were welcomed with signature cocktails and seasonal bites as they wandered the al fresco dining pavilion above the city.
As the company took their seats, they were welcomed with the first performance of the evening– curated in our very own culinary theater. With each plate as our stage, we performed a spring-inspired family style menu featuring grilled salmon with caper zinfandel butter sauce and herb-crusted petit filet with tomato-leek ragout, accompanied by delicate flavors of locally grown, seasonal vegetables served with fragrant herbs and fresh garnishes.
Against the backdrop of the beautiful city, the ballet, catering, and toasts of gratitude felt like one thoughtfully composed, exquisite performance. From where we stood, the setting amplified the artistry—and vice versa.
We had a wonderful time catering this event and are very grateful to have contributed to an evening that celebrated not just performance, but the people and partnerships that make it all possible.
